The Neligh-Oakdale Education Foundation was established in 1993 to provide support for special projects to enhance the field of education for students, staff, and the Neligh-Oakdale communities. Through the Foundation, we affirm and promote the vital importance and assurance of better education within our school district. The Foundation has provided nearly $14,000 in scholarship funds for graduates of Neligh-Oakdale Public Schools over the past years. The scholarships awarded are targeted for graduates entering various levels of post-secondary education and may be renewed pending successful completion of credit hours.
The Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization which neither uses nor replaces the district's regular sources of tax revenue. A seven (7) member Board of Directors is composed of representatives from the Neligh-Oakdale communities.

Why an Education Foundation?
There are valuable educational programs which cannot be funded through regular tax revenue or certain tax programs which cannot be expanded due to revenues being decreased by state and federal government. The Foundation can use donated funds, coupled with the expertise of the school district staff, to start or expand selected educational programs. Currently, the Foundation's primary function has been to fund scholarships. However, funds are needed to keep this practice a reality and perhaps expand the process to include special projects to enhance the learning opportunity for our youth.
